meet the crew

Directed and Edited by

Billy Milionis

Prior to 6,000 Miles, Billy wrote, directed, The camera on the bonnet, to get a shot of Spy in his car.produced and edited two 16mm short films, "Lost Promises" and "5 Tables."  "Lost Promises" has screened at numerous international film festivals, and "5 Tables" was purchased by an Australian television network after winning a local film festival.  Billy is a respected acting teacher, and founder of The Actors Pulse, an acting workshop in Sydney that teaches the Sanford Meisner Technique.  He attributes his directorial skills to years of working with acting students.  We think it's his belligerence.

Written by

Jeff Bollow

Jeff wrote, directed and produced the "The Duel," a short film Jeff as David, trying desparately to look cool.which won the Independent Film Channel's young filmmaker competition in 1995, and has written and directed the short films "After These Messages" and "L.A. Unlimited."  He produced Dean Noble's short film "The Feed," and has almost had three different screenplays purchased over the years.  In an effort to help other writers and aspiring filmmakers (by teaching them to avoid his mistakes!), he created Screenplay.com.au, the SCREENPLAY Development Centre, and is the author of Writing FAST: How to Write Anything with Lightning Speed.  He's currently creating FASTscreenplay, a complete, home-study screenwriting system, as well as developing three screenplays for production.

Produced by

Billy Milionis and Jeff Bollow

Anybody know any gaffers? As a team, 6,000 Miles from Hollywood is Billy and Jeff's first joint venture.  They're currently developing a new comedy screenplay to be shot in Sydney, a TV sitcom, and are working out the logistics of the upcoming production schedule.  And, of course, busting their arses to get this one finished.

Director of
Photography

Elgin Hearn

Nicknamed "48 Frames," Elgin graduated the top of his class at the Photogenic School of Arts in Sydney, Elgan gets his hair done -- we're short on extras.Australia.  Or so he says.  He's made a bunch of really wacky short films on film and video.  After his gig on 6,000 Miles, he was hired as director of photography on Sayonara Sweetheart, an indie feature in Sydney.  He's a trooper.  He even served as our resident extra, appearing in half a dozen scenes in the background.

Post Sound

Jon Leslie

Often described as "our own personal Santa Claus" by Billy and Jeff, Jon is a longtime professional cameraman, Jon wonders how he ever got mixed up with these guys.sound recordist and post-production sound mixer.  Owner of a post sound facility in Manly Vale called Dubbs & Co, Jon has been enthusiastically participating on 6,000 Miles since before it even existed -- probably because he thinks the filmmakers are too crazy to ever give up on the project, and therefore worthy of his charitable contributions.  Jon's the greatest guy in the world, and we're not just saying that because we have yet to complete post-production sound.  Honest.

Make-up and
Hair

Paris Cormick

A professional make-up artist and teacher at Mask Make-up Studios, Paris does her best. It's an uphill battle.Paris has worked in photographic, fasion, film and television, and is currently the resident make-up artist for The Disney Channel.  In addition to putting up with the rigorous demands of the often-delayed 6,000 Miles shoot, she co-ordinated a team of a dozen additional make-up artists, and was known to spend hours and hours making the cast look presentable.  Which is not always an easy task.

Sound
Recordists

Taj McCormick and Drew Kirkwood

Drew was originally hired for the 5-week shoot of 6,000 Miles, but when the production went a little longer than expected, Drew's probably listening to the radio.he had to pursue other engagements.  Taj took his place.

Taj was originally brought on board as the camera assistant.  He only took the gig as a way to get into the editing room, Taj is DEFINITELY listening to the radio.as he had aspirations of assistant editing.  When Drew left, Taj was recruited to be the sound recordist, and ended up recording more than half the film (yes, there were a few delays in the shooting schedule).  He never did come by the editing room.  Probably had enough of us by then.

Music by

Fred Woods

Exactly the type of person needed by an earnest low-budget film production, Fred Woods is not only a genuine, accommodating guy, he also happens to have the best demo reel around.  His music can be heard on television commercials, newscasts, television series and feature films around the world.  His contribution to 6,000 Miles is sure to lift it to a whole new level.

2nd Unit
Director of
Photography

Warren Yeager

Although 6,000 Miles from Hollywood was shot almost entirely on location in Sydney, Australia, some of the scenes are set in Los Angeles.  That's where Warren Yeager comes in.  A top-quality director of photography and camera operator in his own right, Warren shot all exterior L.A. footage used in the film, making it all look that much more authentic.  Ah, the magic of Hollywood.
